The Best Dubstep Makers
Do you want to make dubstep?
In order to create Dubstep beats, you need a beat sequencing platform, which is effectively software to create your dubstep tracks.
The famous Dubstep DJs and producers all use those programs to create those massive Dubstep tracks that you know and love.
Here on this page, I give a brief rundown on these producer platforms. Not all of them are great or cheap, you’ll see what I mean if you read further. It’s not that easy finding the best dubstep maker so I’m here to help.
Things To Consider When Choosing A Dubstep Maker
- Skills: Your previous experience is important here. If you are a newbie with no experience, try to start with the easiest to use software. Don’t expect the producing to be easy, you will always have to use your creativity, some dubstep makers just make it less hard to create the sound you have in your head.
- Price: There is no free dubstep maker download. The most programs are quiet expensive, there are cheaper ones but most of those have less functions. As a starter you could try out the cheaper softwares but keep in mind that if you ever want to go further, you’ll need to throw some money on the table.
- Time: Many of those programs you need to create those filthy beats are very difficult to learn how to use and it will probably take you months and months to learn how to use them on a professional level. Keep in mind that you’ll need to spend a lot of your time if you want to make something note-worthy.
Which Dubstep Makers NOT To Choose
I start with the ones not to choose, I mean if you’re planning to step in the footsteps of the pros. If you are sure you’re never going to get anywhere with music production but you want to play around and create some decent dubstep tracks, then these 2 softwares are probably your way to go.
DubTurbo

DubTurbo
I haven’t used this software and I don’t know anybody who does, but when researching producer software this one showed up a lot. I checked out their website and I can’t say if I trust it. They are offering their software very cheap so maybe, if you have some spare money, you could try it out here.

Cyber Sequencer
Cyber Sequencer
Cyber Sequencer is another beat making software that came up a lot, but their website somehow puts me on alert. This program is also offered very cheap and I did saw some positives review on it ( but they could have been from their marketing team tho ). If you want to try it, go to their website.
Software To Produce Dubstep
If you want to take it on professional, then you unfortunately need to spend some more. But you can be sure you’re buying a great software with a lot of tools, support, plug-ins, tutorials,… The following programs are the top of the notch.
Logic Studio
Logic Studio is probably the most commonly used by professional electronic music producers. It is a highly capable program that comes with a huge selection of pre-loaded sounds, samples, instruments and loops. Logic Studio enables you to write, record, mix and master without any costly hardware, but it is compatible with all popular hardware though, particularly any midi controller. This is the best program for making dubstep, unfortunately it’s the highest pricing producing software and it is MAC only. Luckily for PC-users, there are some great alternatives.
Apple did a great job explaining how to produce music with Logic Studio in the guides “Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 9 and Logic Express 9” and “Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 9 Advanced Music Production” ( Don’t mind the Logic Pro 9. Logic Studio is this years version but the books are still relevant).
Reason 5
PC and Mac compatible, Propellerhead Reason is the best PC alternative to Logic Studio, though is more specified on electronic music, in that it is not as compatible with instruments and hardware ( but we don’t really need those to make dubstep ). That being said, Reason has been the favorite choice for Dubstep producers for years, until the new Logic Studio was released, which is better for mixing and mastering a radio ready track ( but MAC only, MACs aren’t cheap ). Reason is being used by the big name producers who are working on a PC. The suite comes together with awesome synths, compressors, vocoders, drum samples, loops, etc.
This Reason 5 Tutorial DVD and the “Reason 5 Power: The Comprehensive Guide” are things you’re going to need when starting with Reason.
FL Studio
FL Studio is another great PC alternative for apple’s Logic Studio. Tho it’s less fit to make dubstep with, it has a lot more hardware support than Reason 5. So if you’re going to implement some real instruments in your tracks then this is probably your way to go. Personally I think FL Studio is a little bit easier than Reason to start with.
You’re still going to need the Image Line FL Studio 9 Bible.
